ARA-----------------------I don’t know where to start!! Ever since I have gained consciousness, all kinds of filth spread around me have been poisoning my mind, but I am never able to say anything to anyone! Whatever I see every morning while reading the newspaper, every night while watching news channels on TV, has been bothering me for the past years.

We have become insensitive…it is very meaningful for any sensitive speaker or writer to say this; although not all of us are completely insensitive. Yes! It is true that many hair-raising incidents happen in front of us, but we keep watching them, but are unable to do anything despite wanting to!!

In this huge world, we are not present at the place of every incident and those who are present, their carelessness or ignorance of their circumstances allows that incident to happen. Also, it seems more appropriate to say that on most occasions it is our cowardice that allows such incidents to happen!!

But the question is that when there is extreme selfishness, extreme lewdness, extreme cunningness spread all around, then which person will go and fight for which things and at which places?…And the most important thing is that is it a kind of insensitivity that someone is not able to fight against these circumstances or is not willing to fight? Because, apart from political corruption, various kinds of filth spread in the society have always been troubling us all terribly for years, in fact it happens all day long or sometimes some incident dominates the mind in such a way that the mind keeps boiling. But the problem is that while living the household life and fighting with the adversities of various kinds of our own circumstances, neither enough energy is saved nor enough time is available so that we can go and deal with such things. This does not mean that our heart does not boil, rather it also means that our sensitivity keeps falling apart and we find ourselves in agony!!

The truth is that when some big people write that society has become like this, it has become like that, then none of them themselves come out on the streets and fight against it; rather they themselves are actually only writing, so none of those who write all this, are ever found fighting on the streets, rather I urge them to try to express their burning fire in the form of fighting on the streets for just four days or a week, then it is possible that they too will eventually find themselves on the streets, because they would have lost their job. Similarly, with such a burning fire, some person or many people would be somehow living their lives!

Who knows how much debt someone would be in, whose business would have sunk!! Due to his soft nature, he would have lost his credit and the bank would also be on his shoulders and he would have a family of five-seven members, for whose livelihood he would always be struggling with his circumstances, in fact even 18 hours of his working day would be insufficient for him!!…that his daily expenditure would be thousand rupees and he would be able to earn even this thousand rupees with great difficulty!!…So, in such a situation, what battles would he leave his workplace and go into??

It is true that these are personal matters, subjectivity, but in society, each person lives for his own responsibilities, his family and their expenses and also faces all these kinds of circumstances that come his way. These are the circumstances that you are describing!! But, is it possible that a person goes out on the streets and starts fighting against everything?? The corruption that is visible from the surface, the dirt that is visible from the surface, whatever newspapers and channels reveal, is many times more than that!! Even the most sensitive journalists do not know how far this filth has penetrated and how deep it has gone!! Whenever there is some disclosure of some Baba, leader, or officer, then all the things are shown superficially and are also seen, but if we look at it internally, then the number of different acts done by them during their certain “rule”, the people affected by them, their daily life spent due to those acts, among all these, the different types of attacks and counter-attacks of their own followers or relatives or their own family members with the members of the society, which you cannot even imagine that in 10 years…15 years…20 years or 25 years, the officer, leader, Baba, lawyer, engineer, contractor, doctor or any such person, who has become a machine for earning money, whatever he has done in his lifetime, there are lakhs of people affected by them, who have lost so much in return of those bad acts of these people, can this ever be investigated?? If 70 children die in a hospital in Gorakhpur or 159 children die in RIMS Ranchi, then the newspapers also wake up and the administration also wakes up with the facts revealed in the newspaper, but can it really be called a wake-up call?? I don't think so at all, because what has happened today has been happening for 70 years. Every corruption has been happening for 70 years...every filth has been spreading for 70 years and the changed leadership, which never tires of praising its good governance, is itself not free from this filth!! Of course, it may say anything, but it also has partiality towards its people and in reality this is the personalite.

When we support a wrong member of our family and make profit from him!! When we support any wrong element of our locality and make profit from him!! When we make any wrong person of our area an MLA or MP and take benefit from him, then this relationship of our selfishness, the web of corruption is woven and knitted in the midst of all this!

…So, instead of crying over corruption, the talk should be only and only about character, the basic unit of corruption is the character of each and every person of this country. But, at the same time, the character of a person is being knitted in such a way that a person with more and more money is getting represented as someone special in the society and no one even cares about a person with less money!! …So, the worship of Lakshmi has forced every person to become a dreaded criminal!!

Those who are simple, innocent and least selfish are actually unsuccessful in any field of life in the way we encourage them. Their innocence, simplicity and honesty make their daily life even more difficult and make all their situations insurmountable!! In such a situation, do you think that instead of taking to the streets and raising their children or leaving their families in the lurch, such people will fight for those things which they do not see changing even in their dreams!!??

Even a common man knows how terrible this rot is, the convoy of VIP cars passing in front of us, the glitz and grandeur of our times, the support of more power being given to some powerful people among us!! Can anything change despite all this?? However, it would be very disappointing to say that nothing can change, but if we believe that all this can change, then we will have to inquire within ourselves as to how all this will change; because first of all we will have to change our own character and the truth is that the more honest a person is, the more he is living in conflict-ridden circumstances, the more superior he is, the more he is being marginalized!!

You yourself think about the condition of honest and good people in your newspapers and channels; even of those who write well and do good journalism, then talk about fighting!! And, show us by fighting yourself!! Show us by ending this impurity happening in your own institution, then we will know how great a gunman you are!! It is very easy to say, but if any of our own brothers and sisters in our own homes is greedy, selfish, deceitful, a cheat, cunning, dishonest, then it is difficult to change him even a bit, rather it is impossible; then removing any evil from an institution is an even more difficult and impossible task!!

…So, if we think that our country should change, then we should definitely change ourselves!! The country does not change if the feeling of greatness towards the country is only in songs, only in phrases!! The country changes when one remains better and clean!! When a person is better and clean, then there is no need for any Swachhata Abhiyan, nor is there any need for any corruption eradication campaign, nor is there any need for any poverty alleviation campaign!! If we are sincere, if we are honest, if we are at least selfish, then first of all our own house will change, then the locality will change, then the city will change, then the state will change and when everything changes, then undoubtedly the country will also change, in fact it will have to change!!

On the surface, nothing is going to change by talking about fighting!! In true sense, I want to say that the first need of every person in the country is spirituality. Due to this lack of spirituality, he runs towards glitz!! And then he can become anything, doctor, engineer, leader, officer, baba, Naxalite, terrorist!! That means he can become anything, but he will only and only have the desire to fill his empty treasury more…and more…and more and as long as we worship glitz and grandeur!! Make them the headlines of news and channels, till then…till then this will keep happening!! Even if you are the editor of a newspaper and keep shouting that we have become insensitive, we will become even more insensitive because this is our destiny in return of our such corrupt character.
