ARA----------------------The picture of Milki Anaith, ward number 42 of Ara Municipal Corporation located in Bhojpur district of Bihar, still remains in a bad state. Despite lakhs of announcements and promises of the Municipal Corporation, dirty water from drains has been flowing on the roads in this ward for the last seven years, due to which people have to live a hellish life. The situation becomes more horrific during the rainy season when the roads start looking like lakes, and it becomes difficult for people to even come out of their homes.
The residents of the ward say that as soon as the rains start, the streets and the main road get filled with water up to the knees. There is no proper drainage system. People are troubled by mud and stench everywhere. The children going to school face the most problems. The children's studies are disrupted due to falling many times on the mud-soaked roads. The waterlogging on the roads here is so much that the streets and lanes start looking like a lake.
The anger of the local people is now visible on the roads. The residents of the ward protested strongly against the Municipal Corporation and blocked the main road. The protesters said that complaints were made to the public representatives and corporation officials many times, but till now only assurances were received. The result is that every year during the rainy season they have to struggle with dirty water and mud.
A local resident said, "We have been waiting for seven years for the condition of the ward to improve, but every year the situation is getting worse. We and our children are getting sick, it is difficult to go to school, it is difficult to go to office, even fulfilling the daily needs has become a challenge."
This scene has now become the identity of this ward. Women, elderly, students - everyone is forced to pass through dirty water. People pass by carrying shoes and slippers in their hands, clothes up to their knees. Drain water keeps flowing on the roads, due to which there is always a risk of infection.
The residents of the ward say that the Municipal Corporation officials are limited only to paperwork. Neither the drains are cleaned nor the roads are repaired. Despite complaining many times, no concrete action has been taken.
Now the public has warned that if there is no solution soon, the agitation will be intensified.
