SWINGING ELECTRIC WIRES ARE BECOMING FATL, DEPARTMENT IS CARELESS

ARA---------------------------------Serious negligence of the electricity department has come to light in Bhojpur district  An 11,000 volt high tension line is hanging at a height of just eight feet from the village fields, which is inviting any major accident. Villagers say that they have informed the department about this many times, but no concrete action has been taken so far.

The villagers are always in danger of their lives during daily agricultural activities in the fields. This danger increases even more especially during rains and strong winds. The villagers are in fear and worry as to when and who will fall prey to this swinging death. A few days ago, a young man died a painful death in Bhojpur village after coming in contact with an 11,000 volt wire. That accident was the result of similar negligence of the department, when the wire passing between the trees took his life. Despite this, the department did not learn any lesson. Local people allege that the electricity department is deliberately ignoring the matter and is waiting for a major accident. If the wires are not repaired in time, more painful accidents can happen in the future. The villagers have demanded from the administration and the concerned officials that the hanging wires should be repaired with immediate effect and action should be taken against the culprits. Village head representative said that the electricity department officials were informed several times but no hearing took place. Executive Engineer  said that the JE will be sent to the spot and an investigation will be conducted.
