PATNA-----------------------This year, the cities and municipalities of Bihar made a splash in the ranking of Patna Swachh Survekshan 2024. While Patna has got the certification of Water Plus, Patna and Gayaji have got 3 star rating in GFC (Garbage Free City). Bhagalpur and Supaul have got one star rating in GFC itself.
100 cities of Bihar have got the certification of ODF Plus (ODF+) in the Swachhta Ranking this time. Also, Gayaji city of Bihar has got the certificate of ODF Plus Plus (ODF++).
According to the results of Swachhta Ranking 2024 held at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi, Patna has got the first ranking in the state in cleanliness in the category of cities with a population of more than 10 lakh and it has got 21st ranking at the national level. Patna and Gaya have got three star rating in GFC.
In the category of 3 lakh to 10 lakh population, Gayaji has got second place in the state and 27th place at the national level in cleanliness.
President Draupadi Murmu today awarded various cities/municipal bodies which have performed well in cleanliness under Swachh Survekshan 2024 at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi. Patna Municipal Corporation, which is working relentlessly for the cleanliness of Patna, has received the Ministerial Award in this cleanliness ranking.
Along with releasing the result of the cleanliness survey, the President also awarded the municipal bodies. Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh, Municipal Commissioner Animesh Parashar, Additional Secretary Vijay Prakash Meena, besides two female sanitation workers and municipal corporation employees represented the Urban Development and Housing Department in the ceremony.
Minister of Urban Development and Housing Department Jivesh Kumar said that our government has a special focus on cleanliness and that is why our cities are getting cleaner day by day. He said that we are constantly trying to make the cleanliness ranking better.
Department Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh expressed happiness over this and said that all appropriate steps will be taken to keep all the municipal bodies of the state clean, neat and beautiful and efforts will be made to get more awards in Swachh Survekshan 2025.
Two female sweepers Sulekha Devi and Manati Devi have also gone to Delhi to participate in the program. Sulekha Devi, a resident of Shanichara Sthan, has been working in Patna Municipal Corporation for 8 years, while Manati Devi, a resident of Cheena Kothi Mandiri, has been serving as a sweeper in the Municipal Corporation for 2 years.
It is worth noting that in the last Swachh Survey, only two cities Patna and Supaul got one star rating, while this time two cities have got one star and two cities have got 3 star rating. Last time 56 cities got ODF Plus certificate, while this year 100 cities have achieved this feat. Last year no city got ODF Plus Plus (ODF++) certificate.
This time Patna has got the fourth position among the municipal bodies of 88 Ganga cities across the country, whereas last time it was at the sixth position.
