ARA-------------------------As the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections draw near, political temperatures are rising rapidly. Discontent among party workers has begun to surface after the BJP candidate Raghavendra Pratap Singh was given the ticket in the Barhara Assembly constituency of Bhojpur district. Many party workers who have been loyal to the party for decades have called this an injustice to the party's core workers.

Amidst this resentment, Suryabhan Singh, a senior social worker and veteran of the BJP, has taken a rebellious stance and announced his candidacy as an independent. Hundreds of his supporters and BJP workers gathered at his residence on Wednesday and vociferously demanded his candidacy. Upon the workers' request, Suryabhan Singh agreed to file his nomination, sparking a wave of enthusiasm among his supporters.

At the meeting, Suryabhan Singh said, "I have held various responsibilities in the party for 35 years, but the party ignored my loyalty and gave the ticket to an outsider. This is insulting not only to me but also to the true party workers."

The internal strife within the BJP gained further momentum when the Barhara Mukhiya Sangh also launched a campaign against Raghvendra Pratap Singh. The head of the Basantpur Panchayat stated bluntly, "When the people of our Panchayat were in distress during the disaster, the MLA refused to help them. Now we too..."

The Mukhiya Sangh has demanded from the party high command that if the BJP gives a ticket to another local and popular face, they will wholeheartedly support him, otherwise the party could suffer heavy losses in this election.

Suryabhan Singh's independent candidacy has given a new twist to the electoral mathematics in the Barhara seat. While the BJP is facing internal rebellion, other parties are also looking to take advantage of this fragmentation.

It will be interesting to see how the BJP high command handles this resentment and whether Suryabhan Singh's rebellion will write a new chapter in Barhara politics.
