ARA------------------------------The Agiaon Bazar Primary School in Piro block is draining contaminated, undrinkable water from a hand pump installed years ago. However, due to the lack of an alternative, students are forced to drink the contaminated water, which could lead to waterborne illnesses. Sunil Kumar, the school's head teacher, stated that the India Mark 3 hand pump installed in the school has been out of order for a long time, and despite repeated correspondence with the Public Health Engineering Department, no concrete steps have been taken to repair it. Until now, the children's thirst was quenched by the years-old hand pump, but for the past two weeks, the water from the hand pump has been flowing with contaminated, undrinkable water. The Public Health Engineering Department has been notified of the defunct hand pump's repair, but the repairs have not yet been completed. In this situation, children are forced to drink the contaminated water or rely on hand pumps in nearby homes. The situation is exactly the same at Dusadihbadhar Primary School. The India Mark-3 hand pump installed by the Public Health Engineering Department has been out of order for a long time and is not providing water. According to the school's head teacher, Bablu Kumar, despite repeated requests to the Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department, the broken hand pump has not been repaired.
