PATNA---------------------------A Shri Venkateswara Balaji Temple will be constructed in Mokama, Patna, on the lines of Tirupati Balaji. CM Nitish Kumar has given land to TTD for the construction of the temple. The government has given 10.11 acres of land to TTD on a 99-year lease for a symbolic fee of Re 1.

Bihar's capital, Patna, is now moving towards a new identity of religious significance. The state government has allocated 10.11 acres of land to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for the construction of the Shri Venkateswara Balaji Temple in the Mokama Khas area. This decision was approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Following this, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit issued a formal letter to TTD.

The government has provided this land to TTD on a 99-year lease for a symbolic fee of Re 1. This land, located in the Mokama Khas area, has the potential to become a major center of religious tourism in the future. After the land allocation, TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu expressed his happiness on the social media platform X and thanked the Bihar government.

He said that this is not just a decision to build a temple, but a major step towards connecting India's cultural heritage. He also thanked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the state's HRD Minister Nara Lokesh for their support. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu called it a historic decision and said that the construction of the temple in Patna will provide millions of devotees in Eastern India with a spiritual experience similar to Tirupati. This will further strengthen the cultural ties between Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.

A special team from TTD will soon meet with officials of the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation to discuss the temple's blueprint, design, phased plan, and timeline. The entire cost of the temple will be borne by TTD. Several modern facilities such as a guesthouse, prayer hall, spiritual center, and dining hall will be developed within the complex. The construction of the Venkateswara Balaji Temple in Patna is expected to give a new impetus to religious tourism in Bihar. The state government is already working on the development of several religious sites, including the Buddha Smriti Stupa in Vaishali, the Sitamarhi-Janakpur corridor, and Punauradham. Experts believe that this temple will boost employment, the local economy, and infrastructure development.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) launched a national plan in March 2025 to construct Venkateswara temples in major cities across the country. Bihar became the first state to provide land under this initiative. The temple in Patna will be a prime example of South Indian traditional architecture and is aimed at being included in the list of major religious sites in the country. This project could prove to be a major milestone for Patna on religious, cultural, and economic fronts.
