An elderly man was shot by unknown assailants while he was sleeping outside his home with his son. After receiving first aid, the seriously injured man has been referred to PMCH, Patna, for further treatment.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Monday night. The injured man, identified as 60-year-old Surendra Ram, was sleeping with his son on a bed in the courtyard of his home, as usual. Taking advantage of the darkness, some unidentified assailants shot him at close range and fled. Upon hearing the gunshot, people nearby rushed to the scene, but by then the attackers had disappeared into the darkness.

Family members rushed Surendra Ram to Dumraon Sadar Hospital, where doctors, seeing his condition as serious, referred him to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH). Treating physician Dr. Saraswati Chandra Mishra stated that the bullet struck the elderly man near his chest and his condition remains critical.

The incident has created an atmosphere of panic among the villagers. Locals say Surendra Ram had no dispute or enmity with anyone, leaving the motive behind the attack a mystery. Police have collected evidence from the scene and have launched an investigation in the surrounding areas. Meanwhile, officials say they have intensified their search to identify the perpetrators. This mysterious firing in the village has also raised several questions about the security system.
