Sawan has entered my eyes/ I cannot sleep at night –– Poets dressed in various colors won the hearts of poetry lovers by singing one better than the other rain songs drenched in the nectar of love and romance. While there were applause and cheers for the songs of love and romance, there were cries of pain from the audience on the songs of separation.
The poetess conference began with the Vani-Vandana of Dr. Meena Kumari Parihar. Senior poetess Dr. Poonam Anand mesmerized the audience with these lines of separation – “Green bangles, Bindi on the forehead/ O friend, today the sleep of my eyes has flown away/ Without my beloved, friend, the path is empty/ To whom should I tell my anklets today, friend”. Famous poetess Abhilasha Kumari expressed the pain of separation in these lines – “Sawan has entered my eyes/ I am unable to sleep at night/ Then hold my hand in yours/ I am unable to sleep at night”.
