BUXAR----------------------------During this period, a pillar (foundation) erected in memory of the martyrs near the Martyrs' Gate has been demolished. Upon learning of this, members of the Martyrs' Memorial Committee arrived at the scene to assess the situation. An anti-encroachment drive has been underway in the city for two days. There has been jubilation and sadness at times.
During this period, a pillar (foundation) erected in memory of the martyrs near the Martyrs' Gate has been demolished. Upon learning of this, members of the Martyrs' Memorial Committee arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Members claim that the demolition was part of a conspiracy. Previously, one of the foundations had been broken. Angry over the demolition of this memorial to the martyrs, members have stated that they will complain to the District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), and District Magistrate (EO).
It's worth noting that approximately 50 meters from the Martyrs' Gate, there used to be an old police station dating back to the British era. At that very police station, four sons of the city were martyred while hoisting the national flag, the tricolor, by being shot by the British. After the police station was demolished, a Martyrs' Park was built there, where their statues were installed. People remember them by naming the Martyrs' Gate after them. A Martyrs' Pillar was also erected there, serving as a reminder of their memory. One of the pillars on both sides of the road near the gate had already been demolished. The second was demolished last Tuesday during encroachment removal. Upon learning of this, members of the Martyrs' Memorial Committee, Sanjay Chandravanshi, Vijay Chaudhary, Laxman Chaudhary, and Gopal Prasad Gupta, reached the spot and gathered all the information. They claimed that the demolition of the pillars was part of a conspiracy. The members said they would meet with the District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), and District Magistrate (EO) to complain about this and demand the restoration of the demolished martyrs' memorial. If this was not done, they would resort to agitation.
