PATNA-----------------------Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made a big announcement for the domestic electricity consumers of the state. He informed through his social media post that from August 1, 2025, i.e. from the electricity bill of the month of July, all the domestic consumers of the state will not have to pay any charge for electricity up to 125 units. This decision reflects the commitment of the Bihar government to provide electricity at affordable rates and will directly benefit a total of 1 crore 67 lakh families of the state.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the government has been providing electricity to everyone at affordable rates since the beginning and this new step is an important initiative in the same direction.
Along with this announcement, Nitish Kumar also unveiled an ambitious plan to expand solar energy in the state. He said that the government has also decided that in the next three years, after taking consent from all these domestic consumers, solar power plants will be installed on the roofs of their houses or at nearby public places. This will not only provide relief to these families in electricity bills, but they will also become partners in the use of clean energy.
The Chief Minister, while specifically referring to the 'Kutir Jyoti Yojana', said that the state government will bear the entire cost of installing solar power plants for the families who are extremely poor. The government will also provide proper support for the remaining consumers. This step will ensure that even the economically weaker sections are not deprived of the benefits of solar energy.
This initiative will help in providing free electricity up to 125 units to domestic consumers, along with an estimated 10,000 MW of solar power in the state in the next three years. This will not only help in meeting the energy needs of the state but will also be a significant step towards environmental protection.
This announcement marks the beginning of a new era in the field of power supply and renewable energy in Bihar, providing economic relief to lakhs of families and moving the state towards green energy.
