ARA----------------------------The process of land survey and settlement has been going on in Bihar for a long time. To complete this process smoothly, a large number of contract workers like Special Survey Amin, Special Survey Kanungo, Special Survey Assistant Settlement Officer and Special Survey Clerk were appointed. These workers have played an important role in bringing the state government's schemes to the ground by working with their loyalty, hard work and honesty.
Uncertain future - The biggest crisis of contract workers is that their job is not permanent. Despite working for years, no concrete decision has been taken regarding their future. Low pay scale - They get very less honorarium as compared to regular employees, which makes it difficult to live. Lack of service security - There is a danger of termination of service at any time. Judicial battle - Many times they have to resort to court for their demands, which leads to loss of both time and money. Contribution: These contract workers have made an unprecedented contribution in taking the land survey work forward rapidly.
The work of land dispute settlement and record correction in the rural areas of Bihar has been possible due to their efforts. The hard work of these workers has directly benefited the government in revenue collection and implementation of development schemes.
Expectations: Now the time has come that the state government, especially the Honorable Chief Minister, should seriously consider the problems of these workers. A policy of stabilization should be made. The honorarium should be increased and made respectable. Service security should be ensured so that the shadow of uncertainty over the future of the workers working for years ends. If immediate stabilization is not possible, then at least a long-term contract should be renewed, so that they can work without worry.
The issue of special survey contract workers is not only related to employment, but is also related to the development of Bihar and a just land system. If the Chief Minister takes a quick decision in this matter, not only will thousands of families get relief, but the administrative efficiency of the state will also be strengthened.
