BHABHUA----------------------A case of arbitrary collection of CBSE 9th and 10th registration fee by private schools has come to light in the district. Parents allege that almost five times more fees than the prescribed fee are being charged, while many schools are running 9th-10th classes despite being registered only up to 8th class. Attempts to contact the District Education Officer (DEO) on this serious matter have failed for the last two days, which has raised questions on the working style of the education department. CBSE has fixed a fixed fee for registration of 9th and 10th class. But, many private schools of Kaimur district are doing as they please by ignoring this rule. According to parents, schools are collecting five times or even more than the prescribed fee. This collection is being done from those students who are studying regularly in these schools. The shocking thing is that many such private schools are operating in the district which are registered with CBSE only till class VIII. Despite this, these schools are running classes of ninth and tenth. CBSE registration of students studying in these classes is done through other registered schools, which is a blatant violation of the rules. This is playing with the future of the students, because in such a situation questions can be raised on the quality and recognition of their education. When an attempt was made to contact the District Education Officer on this serious matter, but he did not pick up the phone. Despite trying to contact him several times for the last two days, no answer has been received from him. This attitude of the DEO seems to promote the indifference of the education department and the arbitrariness of private schools. The silence of the education department in this matter and the arbitrariness of private schools is taking a toll on the future of the students and the pockets of the parents. It remains to be seen when the district administration takes cognizance of this serious issue and the students and parents get justice.
