ARA---------------------------The police have achieved great success in the campaign being run against drug trafficking in Bhojpur district. The police of Gajrajganj OP have arrested a notorious smuggler with 20 kg of ganja. The accused has been identified as Braj Kishore Singh, a resident of Masad village in Bhojpur district.
According to the police, this action was carried out late Friday night on the basis of secret information. Information was received that a person was about to enter the village with a large consignment of ganja via the railway station. As soon as the information was received, the police showed promptness and cordoned off the main entrance of the village and started a search operation.
During the investigation, the police saw a suspicious person coming with a sack, when he was stopped and searched, two large bundles of ganja were recovered in the sack. On weighing, the quantity of ganja was found to be about 20 kg. Immediately the police arrested the accused and took him to the police station and started interrogation.
Bhojpur SP Raj told in a press conference that, "The arrested person Braj Kishore Singh has been involved in the drug smuggling business for a long time. The police was keeping an eye on his activities for a long time and as soon as concrete information was received, the team acted promptly and caught him."
At present, a case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) and he has been sent to judicial custody.
Sadar SDPO One Raj Kumar Sah said that efforts are being made to gather information about the network and supply chain related to smuggling by interrogating the accused. The police is trying to find out from where this ganja was brought and in which areas it was to be delivered.
He said, "Ganja smuggling is not the work of a single person. There is an organized network behind it and the police is working towards breaking this entire network."
It is worth noting that Masad and its surrounding areas have been on the police radar earlier also for drug smuggling and illegal trade. Many times consignments of ganja, opium and other drugs have been caught from here. That is why the police have declared these areas as high alert zones and constant surveillance has been increased.
SP Raj also said that the police administration is fully committed to make Bhojpur district drug-free. The campaign against drug dealers will be intensified. More arrests and revelations are expected in the coming days.
