PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING FROM WATERLOGGING

ARA---------------------------The weather suddenly changed on Sunday night in Nagar Panchayat Shahpur, and with this the torrential rain started and flooded the city in no time. This rain affected every corner of the city, due to which the local citizens had to face a lot of trouble. Due to continuous rain throughout the night, waterlogging occurred from the main roads to the streets. This waterlogging badly affected the common life. The roads became muddy, and people were seen troubled due to waterlogging at many places.

Children taking tuition, students going to school, and office workers were seen somehow crossing the road amidst the waterlogging. This scene was not only disturbing, but it was also an indication of how weak the drainage system of the Nagar Panchayat is. Local people say that every year the same situation occurs in Shahpur city during the rains, but till now no permanent arrangement for drainage has been made. The drains have not been cleaned properly. There is a serious situation of waterlogging at other places including Thana Mor, Banahi Road and Ward-08 of the city.

Vinay Mishra, who is a resident of Ward No. 08, says, "Every year the Nagar Panchayat makes claims about cleanliness and drainage, but the result is the same." After the waterlogging, the Nagar Panchayat is trying to drain the water from Banahi Road by installing a pumping set, but they are finding it difficult to control the situation in Ward-08.

When the empowered permanent committee member of the Nagar Panchayat, the ward councilor, was asked to solve the problem of Ward-08, the councilor said that the capital Patna is drowning due to rainwater. He also said that "It is fine here that water is not entering the house." This type of response makes it clear that the priorities of the public representatives are somewhere else, and the problems of the citizens are being ignored. The condition of Ward-08 of Shahpur Nagar Panchayat has created anger among the local citizens. People are now raising the question whether the Nagar Panchayat administration has a real interest in solving the problems of its citizens? Many citizens also said that if this serious problem is not solved in time, then the Nagar Panchayat administration will be responsible for the citizens becoming agitated in the coming days.

At the same time, Vinay Mishra said that the problem of waterlogging in Ward-08 of Nagar Panchayat Shahpur is not just a seasonal phenomenon, but it is a serious issue to bear the brunt of waterlogging throughout the year. The situation worsens as soon as it rains, which cannot be ignored. It is the responsibility of the Nagar Panchayat administration to listen to the voice of the citizens and solve their problems.

Mr. Mishra said that if the administration does not take concrete steps in this direction, then the trust of the citizens may be lost in the Nagar Panchayat administration, and this situation can become even worse. He told that he has sent the photos and videos to the Executive Officer through WhatsApp. I have talked on the phone and have informed them about the situation here. The Nagar Panchayat should take this problem seriously and make permanent arrangements for drainage.
