OFFICIAL APATHY MADE NH-19 A CORRIDOR OF DEATH

BHABHUA---------------------------The area near Kudra Overbridge on National Highway-19 in the district was once again shaken by a painful accident. A 12-year-old girl died a painful death on the spot after being hit by a speeding truck on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Anushka Kumari, 12-year-old daughter of Vinod Ram, a resident of Kadai village of Kudra police station area. After this incident, the local villagers got angry and blocked NH-19 demanding an underpass. Regarding the incident, it is being told that Anushka Kumari was crossing the road, when an uncontrolled truck vehicle number- NL 01 AJ 2587 crushed her due to which she died a painful death on the spot. After this accident, there was an atmosphere of chaos there. Soon, a large number of local people gathered and started shouting slogans against the administration. A teacher had also died three days ago. This incident has happened at the same place where just three days ago, on Friday, a teacher was also crushed to death by a truck. The deceased teacher was identified as 55-year-old Asha Kumari, who was working in an inter-level school in Jehanabad. She was crossing the road to catch a bus, when an unbridled tanker crushed her. Accidents happen every day at the said place, there is a lot of anger among the villagers due to the continuous incidents.

Angry with the deaths happening one after the other, the villagers blocked NH-19 after Anushka's death. The protesters were adamant on the demand to call senior administrative officials on the spot and to immediately start the construction of an underpass under the overbridge. The villagers said that this area has become a "black spot", and accidents happen here every day, in which many people have lost their lives. They alleged that people are losing their lives due to the negligence of the administration and NHAI. Demand for underpass was made several times from the officials but the officials are careless-

As soon as the information about the jam was received, the police of Kudra police station and the administration officials reached the spot. They tried hard to convince the angry villagers. The officials assured to convey the demand of construction of underpass to the higher authorities and take appropriate action, after which the villagers removed the jam.

The police has taken the body of the student into custody and sent it to Bhabhuan Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. This incident has created an uproar in the family of the deceased. Local people say that if an underpass or foot overbridge was constructed here in time, then these tragic incidents could have been avoided. They have warned that if their demands are not met soon, then they will be forced to protest again.
