PATNA------------------------- CCTV cameras are being installed in all the registration offices of the state to further strengthen the security system. The work of installing them is almost complete. According to the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department, at present CCTV cameras have been installed in a total of 145 offices, out of which cameras of 125 offices have been made online. Work is going on at a fast pace to make the cameras

online in the remaining offices. Under this initiative, cameras are being installed in a total of 140 district registration and 9 divisional Assistant Registrar General offices from March 2025.

According to the department, 12 to 14 CCTV cameras are being installed in all sub-registrar offices and 18 to 20 CCTV cameras in district registration offices. All these new CCTV cameras are equipped with Internet Protocol (IP). These modern cameras have features like remote monitoring, high resolution recording, network connectivity, 24×7 recording, data storage and motion detection and alerts. The department monitors the cameras of all the districts from the headquarters in Patna and the Command and Control Center in Kumhrar.

18 to 20 cameras are being installed in district registration offices Patna, Ara, Aurangabad, Banka, Begusarai, Bettiah, Bhagalpur, Buxar, Darbhanga, Gopalganj, Hajipur, Jamui, Jehanabad, Kaimur, Katihar and Khagaria. Similarly, work is being done to install 18 to 20 cameras in Madhepura, Madhubani, Motihari, Munger, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, Nawada, Patna, Patna Sadar, Rohtas (Sasaram), Saharsa, Samastipur, Saran, Sheikhpura, Shivhar, Sitamarhi Sadar, Siwan Sadar and Supaul.

In the last few months, incidents of theft had increased in registration offices. This step has been taken to ensure additional security besides monitoring the important land related documents and records 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Along with this, five private security guards will be deployed in all the district registration offices and three in all the sub-registrar offices.
