DELHI------------------------On the second day of the ongoing discussion in Lok Sabha on Operation Sindoor, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi aggressively alleged that during Operation Sindoor, the Narendra Modi government at the Centre did not have the willpower to fight Pakistan. He alleged that the government had ended the ceasefire within half an hour on the night of the start of Operation Sindoor. He said that the government had lost its political willpower.
Citing the statement of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Rahul Gandhi said that the Defence Minister said in the House that we told Pakistan at 1.35 in the night that we had attacked the terrorist hideouts. This was not escalation. Now there should be no escalation. Rahul said, "You surrendered to Pakistan in 30 minutes and told that you don't have the willpower to fight." Rahul said that by saying this, the government tied the hands and feet of the Air Force pilots.
Rahul clarified that the government made the mistake of ordering not to attack Pakistan's military bases and our pilots' hands were tied. He said that the government told Pakistan immediately after Operation Sindoor that we do not want to take the conflict forward. That is, in a way the government said that we do not have the political will.
Regarding the ceasefire after Operation Sindoor, he said that US President Trump has mentioned 29 times that he got the ceasefire done. If Trump is a liar, then Prime Minister Modi should say this here in Parliament. We are ready to accept it.
Attacking the government in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi questioned the government's will power regarding the war. He said, "Political willpower is needed to fight any war. Everyone was talking about the 1971 Bangladesh war... I want to tell you that the Prime Minister of that time had political willpower. America's seventh fleet was moving towards India in the sea... Even after this, Indira Gandhi had clearly said that whatever we have to do in Bangladesh, we will do it. This is political willpower. If PM Modi has even 10 percent of Indira Gandhi's willpower, then he should come here and say it."
Rahul Gandhi said, "Regarding Operation Sindoor, the Defense Minister told that the operation started at night, after some time he was also told that we have attacked only a few places. Military bases have not been targeted. Was this your willpower? You tied the hands of our fighter pilots and sent them to fight. Our jets were bound to fall."
