The road accident that took place near Pratapsagar village of Naya Bhojpur police station area late Wednesday night is a recent example of this. Ashok Sah, a resident of Dhakaich village of Simri block, died in the accident. He was travelling on his moped after buying goods for his shop from Buxar when suddenly he lost control after colliding with a Nilgai crossing the road.

BUXAR-----------------------The increasing number of stray animals and especially Nilgai in rural areas is now proving to be fatal for pedestrians. The road accident that took place near Pratapsagar village of Naya Bhojpur police station area late Wednesday night is a recent example of this. He was travelling on his moped after buying goods for his shop from Buxar when suddenly he lost control after colliding with a Nilgai crossing the road.

Local people say that this is not the first incident. Nilgai often come out on the road in Pratapsagar and surrounding areas, due to which drivers have to face danger. Many times people escape with minor injuries, but this time the accident proved to be serious. Police reached the spot and sent the injured businessman to the hospital, where he died during treatment. As soon as the news of Ashok Sah's death reached the village, there was a mourning silence. The family members are crying inconsolably. Local people are demanding from the administration that concrete steps should be taken to control stray animals, so that such accidents can be avoided in future. Police station in-charge Manish Kumar said that the body has been sent for post-mortem and necessary action is being taken. On the other hand, the villagers say that unless the increasing terror of Nilgais is not taken seriously, it is difficult to stop the series of road accidents.
