ARA-----------------------Shahpur MLA Rahul Tiwari on Tuesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding immediate intervention to save Jawainiya village of Shahpur block of Bhojpur district from the rapid erosion of the Ganges river. This letter has also been sent to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Delhi, Union Jal Shakti Minister and National Disaster Office. The MLA has also released a copy of the letter through a press note.
MLA Rahul Tiwari in his letter has urged both the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to start the work of pinching boulders in the Ganges river soon. He informed the Prime Minister that the efforts of the Bihar government in this direction have failed so far. Expressing concern, the MLA said that more than 100 houses, farms and barns in Jawainiya village have been submerged in the Ganges river, due to which there is an atmosphere of fear among the villagers.
In the letter issued through the press note, the MLA has mentioned that there is rapid erosion of water inside the dam of river Ganga in Jawainiya village under Damodarpur Panchayat. He informed that the population of this Panchayat is about 10,000 and most of the population in it belongs to Dalit and backward communities.
He informed that he has informed the concerned departments of the Government of Bihar and the Honorable Chief Minister about this serious problem several times in writing and verbally. Efforts were made by the concerned departments to take further action, but it could not succeed. He clarified that unless efforts are made to stop erosion through pinching boulders from both Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, it is not possible to stop this erosion.
The MLA has requested the Prime Minister to take action to issue necessary orders to stop erosion soon in the light of the above-mentioned facts, so that the village of the erosion-affected population can be saved.
