ARA---------------------------When Dr. Nirmala came out of the ward and reached her chamber, the headmistress of a girls' school was waiting for her. As soon as she arrived, the headmistress stood up and greeted her.

The doctor accepted her greeting, asked her to sit down, and inquired, "Yes, tell me, why have you brought so many girls here at once?"

The headmistress said, "Madam, I don't understand. Girls aged eight to fourteen are experiencing breast pain, lower abdominal pain, some have headaches, some are very irritable, and some are craving sweet or salty foods.

That's why I got worried and brought them all to you."

Hearing her, Dr. Nirmala smiled and said, "Look, there's nothing to worry about. These are all symptoms of the onset of menstruation in these girls.

Earlier, girls used to start menstruating at the age of fifteen or sixteen. But now, due to global warming, rising temperatures, changes in diet, social environment, and the era of social media and the internet, there have been very rapid changes in hormones. That's why nowadays this cycle starts even in eight-year-old girls. Now it has become a common thing. So there is no need to be disturbed or surprised."

"Well, Doctor, I feel so relieved after hearing you, otherwise I was quite worried," the headmistress said with a smile.

"Yes, that's why nowadays parents and teachers of girls aged eight to fourteen should inform them about these changes beforehand so that when the girl goes through this period, she doesn't get scared or experience mental stress.

Because this is the first such event in their lives. Gradually, everything becomes normal," Dr. Nirmala said.

"Yes, absolutely, Madam, I will keep these things in mind from now on," the headmistress said.

"I will examine all the girls now and give them medicine according to their symptoms. They will all feel much better after taking the medicines. But remember, you shouldn't give them medicine for every little thing." And you should also take some medicines for your school, give them only when absolutely necessary.

One more thing, girls' periods can start at any time. So, you should also carry packets of sanitary pads so that the girls don't have to face any trouble or embarrassment.

Dr. Nirmala explained.

Then she called all the girls one by one, examined them, and gave them medicine according to their symptoms.

The doctor told the girls that there was nothing to worry about. What is happening to you, we have all gone through this in the initial stages.

Listen carefully to everything I say, and Headmistress Madam, you also listen so that you and the other girls can tell your friends so that they don't face any problems.

Now I am going to tell you about the symptoms of the first menstruation in girls, listen carefully everyone.

Then Dr. Nirmala started explaining and said that - When menstruation (periods) begins in girls, several physical and emotional symptoms appear, such as lower abdominal cramps, mood swings (irritability, sadness), breast swelling or tenderness, fatigue, headache, acne, and increased cravings for certain foods (sweet or salty), which usually begin a few days before the start of periods and tend to subside with the onset of bleeding.

Physical Symptoms:

Cramps: Feeling pain or cramps in the lower abdomen or back, which is normal.

Breast Changes: Breasts feeling heavy, swollen, or tender to the touch.

Fatigue: Feeling very tired and lacking energy.

Acne: Pimples appearing on the face due to hormonal changes.

Bloating: Feeling bloated or heavy in the stomach.

Appetite Changes: Having intense cravings for certain foods (such as chocolate, chips).

Headache: Headaches or migraines due to hormonal fluctuations. Emotional Symptoms (PMS):

Mood Swings: Sudden anger, irritability, or sadness.

Anxiety: Feeling restless or stressed.

Sleep Changes: Difficulty sleeping or sleeping too much.

First Menstrual Period (Menarche):

Girls usually have their first period between the ages of 8 and 14, and it can be quite irregular.

Breast development is also an early sign before periods begin.

When to see a doctor?

If the pain is very severe and not relieved by regular medication.

If the symptoms are very severe and affect daily life.

If periods are very heavy or very light, or very irregular.

After saying this, Dr. Nirmala asked, "Now, do you all understand the reason for the problems you are experiencing?"

"Yes, Madam," all the girls said together. "Very good, now you can all go. Take the medicine I prescribed."

Everyone left the doctor's chamber. There was happiness on everyone's faces.

As soon as they left, Nurse Manju said, "Wow, Madam, you did a wonderful job! You explained everything about their first period to the girls so easily and sent them away happy. You are different, Madam."

"Even the girls' mothers don't give this much information because of hesitation and embarrassment."

"I am a doctor, Manju. My job is to perform my duty honestly, and that's what I'm doing."

Just then, two women entered her chamber. The doctor asked, "What is the problem with both of you?"

One woman said, "Madam, my menstruation is not stopping. Earlier it used to come every twenty-eight days, but now it's coming every week. I'm feeling dizzy. I'm feeling very weak."

The other woman said, "Madam, my menstruation has stopped completely, and I want to have a child." You know that a woman cannot become a mother until her menstrual cycle begins. Please, Madam, I beg you, help me start my periods somehow. I have two daughters, and now I absolutely need a son, otherwise, my in-laws will make my life hell.

After hearing both of them, Dr. Nirmala said, "Okay, don't worry. I will examine both of you one by one." She gestured to Manju. Manju made the first woman lie down on the examination table.
