ARA------------------------------1925: Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar laid the foundation for an organization for Hindus on September 27th, Vijayadashami, but it was not yet named.

1926: On April 17th, the organization was named Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) when a small group of Hedgewar's followers voted for it among four proposed names. 1926: The first daily shakha (branch) began in Nagpur on May 28th.

1927: The first training camp for office bearers began in May, with 17 participants.

1928: 99 volunteers attended the first pledge ceremony in March.

1929: At a two-day meeting in November, Hedgewar was appointed RSS Sarsanghchalak Balaji Huddar as Sarkaryavah and Martandrao Jog as Sarsenapati.

1930: The Congress passed a resolution declaring Purna Swaraj. Hedgewar directed all branches to celebrate January 26th as Independence Day. directed the movement. Hedgewar, along with several volunteers, participated in the Jungle Satyagraha and was arrested. The black cap was adopted as part of the RSS uniform, replacing the khaki cap.

1940: The British government banned the RSS uniform and route marches. Sanskrit prayers were introduced in place of Hindi and Marathi prayers. Hedgewar died on June 21. Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar was appointed the second Sarsanghchalak of the RSS on July 3.

1947: RSS volunteers founded the Bharatiya Swayamsevak Sangh in Kenya. The Organizer and Panchjanya weekly magazines were launched.

1948: Following the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, the RSS was banned. Then RSS chief Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar and thousands of volunteers were arrested.

1949: When none of the charges were proven, the government lifted the ban on July 12, 1949. The RSS's constitution was drafted. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad was established.

1950: The first meeting of the All India Representative Assembly, the highest decision-making body of the RSS, was held in March. The Vastuhara Sahayata Samiti was established to help Hindu refugees from Pakistan.

1952: The cow protection movement began. The Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram was established. The Bharatiya Jana Sangh was founded under the leadership of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.

1954: Dadra Nagar Haveli was liberated from Portuguese occupation. Volunteers helped in the liberation of Goa.

1955: Volunteers participated effectively in the Goa Liberation War. Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh was established.

1963: On January 26, approximately 3,000 RSS volunteers, invited to the Republic Day parade in Delhi, participated in full uniform and with bands.

1964: Vishwa Hindu Parishad was established.

1973: Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar died on June 5. Balasaheb Deoras became the third Sarsanghchalak on June 6.

1975: The Indira Gandhi government imposed the Emergency on June 25. On July 4, the RSS was banned for the second time. Balasaheb Deoras was arrested.The All India People's Struggle Committee was established to fight against the Emergency.

1977: The Bharatiya Jana Sangh merged with the newly formed Janata Party, and the Janata Party came to power. The government lifted the ban on the RSS on March 22. Jayaprakash Narayan spoke in Patna on November 3. Addressed an RSS meeting in

1980: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) formed

1981: Sanskar Bharati established

1992: On December 10, following the demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya, the Centre banned the RSS for the third time.

1993: On June 4, a government-appointed tribunal declared the ban on the Sangh invalid and revoked it. All India Ex-Servicemen Service Council formed.

1994: On March 11, Prof. Rajendra Singh, alias Rajju Bhaiya, was declared Sarsanghchalak. The All India Services Department of the RSS was launched. Laghu Udyog Bharati was formed.

1998: The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance formed the central government, with former RSS pracharak Atal Bihari Vajpayee as Prime Minister.

2000: Kuppalli Sitaramayya Sudarshan was appointed the fifth Sarsanghchalak of the RSS on March 11.

2009: Dr. Mohan Bhagwat was appointed the sixth Sarsanghchalak of the RSS.

2016: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) adopted brown trousers instead of khaki shorts for its volunteers' uniforms.
