BHABHUA--------------------------A Forest Department team, responding to information about illegal felling of trees along the canal in the Bhagwanpur block area of the subdivision, arrested one person on the spot and solved the case.
The construction work on the Bhagwanpur Son Canal is currently underway. Amidst this construction, some locals noticed the lush green trees along the canal. For several days, complaints had been received about these trees being cut down and taken away in a blatant act of robbery. Meanwhile, the Forest Department received a tip-off that trees were being felled again along the canal.
Upon receiving the information, Forester Tori Pratibha Bharti and Mundeshwari Forester Vineet Kumar, along with their entire team, rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, chaos erupted. Many of the people cutting the trees tried to flee when they saw the police and Forest Department vehicles approaching.
We are currently present on the banks of the Bhagwanpur Son Canal, where illegal tree felling was taking place until recently. Upon the Forest Department's unexpected arrival, several people fled, but one person was arrested at the scene. The arrested person's name is Munib Kumar, son of Rohit Prasad, village Shahpur.
The Forest Department team recovered a bicycle and four axes from the scene. After questioning, Munib Kumar was released after signing a bond, but legal action has been initiated against three or four other individuals involved in the incident under the Forest Act.
Forest Department officials say that the canal's concreting work is ongoing, making trees easily vulnerable. The continued tree-felling by local residents poses a serious challenge to environmental protection.
We received intelligence that tree-felling was ongoing there. When the team arrived, some people fled, and one was arrested. Further action is underway against additional individuals. Illegal tree-felling will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Since the incident, tension and vigilance have heightened in the area. The Forest Department has made it clear that strict action will be taken if trees are damaged during the canal paving work. Currently, teams are searching for others involved in the illegal felling.
