PATNA--------------------------Junior doctors of Patna PMCH announced to stop OPD services from Tuesday demanding increase in stipend and security. Doctors said that the government is ignoring their demands.
Junior doctors of PMCH, Patna have announced a strike on Tuesday demanding increase in internship stipend and security. Doctors said that despite repeated requests to the government, their demands are being continuously ignored. In protest against this, the OPD services of the hospital will be disrupted from Tuesday.
Junior doctors say that they have taken this step under compulsion so that their voice reaches the government and they can get proper honorarium. He said that according to the rules, the stipend should be revised every three years, but no action has been taken on this for a long time.
According to the association, at present they get only 20,000 monthly stipend, whereas in view of inflation and workload, this amount should be increased to 40,000. The association also said on Monday that if the government does not accept the demands, OPD services will be completely stopped.
The doctors also alleged that the rule of increasing the stipend every three years has not been followed by the government. They have gone on strike several times before for their demands, due to which OPD services were affected, but till now no concrete steps have been taken by the government.
Along with this, the doctors have also reiterated their demand for security, referring to the incident that happened with MLA Chetan Anand in Patna AIIMS. They have termed the FIR related to the incident as wrong and have demanded its immediate withdrawal. Also, the hospital administration has been requested to provide full legal assistance to the resident doctors and security personnel.
