The police have finally begun to tighten the noose on Mumtaz, a resident of Naya Bhojpur, who has been eluding the law for five years in connection with a serious case of animal smuggling in Jharkhand. On Thursday, following orders from the Dumka Civil Court, major action was taken against the accused named in case number 35/21, registered under the Jharkhand Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act, 2005, in the Raneshwar police station area of Dumka district. The Naya Bhojpur police station, in conjunction with the Raneshwar police station team in Dumka, conducted a joint operation and served a notice at the accused's home.

Mumtaz has been absconding in this case, registered in 2021. Despite police notices, summons, and various legal procedures, the accused failed to appear in court. Following his absence, the court took a firm stance and ordered the issuance of a notice. Upon receiving the order, a Dumka police team led by Sub-Inspectors Vishal Khalkho and Ajay Kumar arrived in Naya Bhojpur, where, with the assistance of the local police station, the notice was pasted at the accused's home and surrounding areas. The notice clearly states that the accused must appear before the court by December 20, 2025, under all circumstances. In the event of failure to appear within the stipulated time, attachment and confiscation proceedings will be initiated as directed by the court. The police team handed over a copy of the court order to the family members, warning them that failure to cooperate with the court proceedings could result in even more stringent legal action.

New Bhojpur Station House Officer Chandan Kumar stated that the campaign against absconding accused has been intensified and no leniency will be shown in such cases. He appealed to the public to immediately inform the police station if they have any information regarding the accused, so that a speedy arrest can be ensured. This strict police action has created a buzz in the area, and it has become a clear message that those who consistently escape the law are now being closely monitored.
