ARA-----------------------Janata Dal (United)—or JDU—is a party in Indian politics that, based on socialist values, transformed politics into a vehicle for public welfare through service and dedication.

The party was formed on October 30, 2003, when the Janata Dal, Lok Shakti, and Samata Party merged. This historic unification was led by the late George Fernandes and Shri Nitish Kumar. Following this merger, the newly formed entity was named Janata Dal (United).

Its election symbol was the arrow, while the party flag was given a new identity by incorporating the green and white colors of the Samata Party—symbolizing development, peace, and harmony.

As a bearer of socialist ideology, JDU has always prioritized the upliftment of the last person in society. Implementing the spirit of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" at the grassroots level, the party has established a deep presence in many states, including Bihar.

In a short time, JDU has won the trust of the people in states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh and presented a model of inclusive development.

A testimony to the party's growing popularity is that last year, nearly 7.5 million people across the country joined JDU, a historic step towards strengthening and expanding the socialist ideology.

JDU has been governing Bihar since 2005. During this period, the state has seen significant improvements in areas such as education, health, roads, electricity, women's empowerment, and law and order.

JDU has also ensured its active role in the country's development at the national level by holding various ministries in the central government.

Janata Dal (United) is not just a political party, but a movement—one that continuously works to advance the ideology of equality, social justice, secularism, and development.

“The true identity of JDU is to move forward with every section of society.
