DELHI-----------------------------Relations between India and Israel today demonstrate unprecedented strength in the areas of political, economic, and cultural cooperation, despite recent escalation of tensions between Israel and the Gulf countries, and India's support for the two-nation theory in the Palestine-Israel conflict on international forums. This article analyzes how these relations have remained stable and what historical events reinforce this "fraternity."

During World War I, the Battle of Haifa took place on September 23, 1918. The 15th Imperial Service Cavalry Brigade of the British-Indian Army played a key role in this battle.

Jabind-Indian troops, led by cavalry units—from the Jodhpur Lancers, Mysore, Hyderabad, etc.—advanced and captured Haifa despite the Ottoman forces' modern weapons.

Among the key commanders of this battle was Thakur Dalpat Singh Shekhawat, who was later remembered as the 'Hero of Haifa'.

India has time and again supported the two-nation theory in the Israel-Palestine dispute at the United Nations General Assembly and other international forums.

At the same time, India has objected to violence and terrorism, and has advocated for respect for human rights and international humanitarian law.

Strategic Partnership: Cooperation between Israel and India is steadily growing in the fields of defense, agriculture, water management, science and technology.

Remembering the heroism of the Battle of Haifa, India keeps this historic event alive through commemorations. For example, September 23rd is commemorated as "Haifa Day."

Keeping the memories of figures like Dalpat Singh alive, and publicly recognizing this history through memorials or proud moments in both India and Israel, strengthens the foundation of these relations.

For India, the Gulf countries—Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, etc.—are crucial partners in terms of vital energy resources, investment, and South Asia-Middle East trade.

Despite the increased complexities with the Gulf countries—political and strategic divisions—India has been able to maintain balance in its foreign policy.

India's focus on prioritizing strategic interests, security cooperation, technological partnerships, and dialogue on human rights has reduced tensions in bilateral relations with Israel and the Gulf countries.

It is clear that India-Israel relations are not based solely on current economic or political interests. Historical events like the Battle of Haifa date back hundreds of years, and these events demonstrate a deep, emotional, and respectful relationship between the two countries.

When India supports a two-state solution on international platforms, it takes steps towards justice, human rights, and lasting peace. And when Israel partners with India in security, agriculture and technology sectors, it shows that this relationship is not just about words, but also about shared interests and tales of courage.
