ARA--------------------------In view of the upcoming assembly elections, the Prohibition Department, on the orders of District Magistrate Tanay Sultania, is conducting continuous raids and vehicle checks against liquor in the district. Under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Prohibition Rajneesh, the Prohibition Department seized a large quantity of foreign liquor based on a tip-off.
During the investigation, based on a tip-off, 987.600 liters of foreign liquor hidden under gravel was recovered from a 12-wheeler truck, 51.840 liters of foreign liquor was seized from a CNG tempo, and a Mahindra XUV (registration number not listed) was also seized along with 70 cartons of foreign liquor.
The arrested smugglers, brothers Roshan Kumar and Deepak Kumar, have been arrested and are being handed over to the court for further action. A total of 1644.240 liters of liquor in 8328 pieces was seized from the vehicle. The market value of the seized liquor was estimated to be around 20 lakh rupees.
The seized liquor was being brought to Bhojpur from Uttar Pradesh. The raiding team included Inspector Prakash Chandra, Inspector Anil Kumar, Sub-Inspector Shivam Kumar Jha, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravi Kumar, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Srajkumar Raja, along with prohibition constables, SAP, and Home Guard personnel.
