ARA------------------------Police have arrested a young man in Sakaddi village in the police station area for allegedly hanging his wife. The arrested man has been identified as Kamendra Rai, son of Bachcha Rai, a resident of Ward No. 7 of Sakaddi village.
On June 4th of this year, a woman committed suicide by hanging herself in Sakaddi village. A case of dowry harassment by the woman's parents was filed at the local police station under case number 141/25. According to information received, the deceased was identified as Sita Devi, 26, wife of Kamendra Yadav, a resident of Ward No. 7 of Sakaddi village in the Koilwar police station area. The young man had been absconding since the case was registered. Police received a tip-off that the young man had returned to his home in Sakaddi. Based on the information, the absconding man was arrested during a raid.
The deceased's cousin, Rohit Kumar, stated that the couple had met five years ago at a relative's house in Sakkadi village and gradually began a love affair. After several years of courtship, they had a love marriage in 2021 at a temple in Pavana village. After about a year of marriage, her husband and in-laws began demanding a Bullet and money as dowry. They said they would pay. Afterward, they gave her in-laws over one lakh rupees a year ago. Everything was fine. A few days prior, she had a phone argument with her husband. Her mother-in-law also quarreled with her. The day before her suicide, at around 2 pm, she called her brother Arun's mobile phone and said she had been assaulted by her in-laws. Arun was in Punjab at the time. He called Rohit, who went to her in-laws' house and asked why they had fought, but they refused to tell him anything. When he didn't see his sister, he inquired with his in-laws, who told him she had fallen from a stool and was hospitalized. He then returned home. On Tuesday night, a villager from his in-laws' home informed him that his sister's condition was serious. Following this, his brother called him. When he arrived at her in-laws' home in Sakkadi village on Wednesday morning, he found her lying dead on the bed, with everyone else at home fleeing. Only her mother-in-law was present. He then informed the local police. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and conducted a post-mortem at Sadar Hospital. Meanwhile, the deceased's cousin, Rohit Kumar, accused her in-laws of beating and hanging her to death over their demand for a Bullet. It is said that the deceased was the second of two brothers and a sister and the only child of her parents. Her husband works in a private job in Hyderabad, and she has a one-year-old son, Maurya Raj. Following the incident, chaos reigned in the deceased's home. All family members were inconsolable and a First Information Report (FIR) was filed at the local police station.
