PATNA---------------------------The case presented regarding the disqualification of a total of five representatives, including Chief Councilor Jugnu Devi, is related to the sections of Bihar Municipality Act, 2007.
The case related to the disqualification of five public representatives from Shahpur Nagar Panchayat of Bhojpur district is in the hearing phase in the State Election Commission (SEC) today. The case presented regarding the disqualification of a total of five representatives, including Chief Councilor Jugnu Devi, is related to the sections of Bihar Municipality Act, 2007. Plaintiff Krishna Kumar and former Deputy Chairman Ramesh Kumar Ram have filed suit number-50/2024 in SEC-Bihar Court alleging violation of the provisions of the article.
According to the plaint, a case has been filed against the Chief Councilor under Section 18(I)(k) and Section 18(I)(l), which cites the rules related to compliance of rules and electability. Also, four councillors—Sagir Ahmed of Ward No. 2, Kameshwar Raj of Ward No. 4, Madhumala Devi of Ward No. 7 and Aarti Devi of Ward No. 11—are accused of hiding facts in their affidavits.
It should be noted that the first hearing is scheduled today for councillor Sagir Ahmed of Ward No. 2 and Madhumala Devi of Ward No. 7. If the allegations are proved as a result of the commission's hearing, then the electoral status of the concerned representatives may be affected. Patna High Court advocate Abhay Kumar Pandey said that the hearing before the State Election Commission is held only after four o'clock in the afternoon.
There is information about a gathering of the ruling and opposition parties related to Shahpur Nagar Panchayat in front of the State Election Commission's office located on the third floor of Son Bhawan, Virchand Patel Marg, Patna. People going to Patna by train told Khabre Aapki team that today is the final hearing in a case. Here, in the city too, the supporters will keep their eyes on the hearing.
