BUXAR----------------------------The government has initiated concrete steps to return crores of rupees lying dormant for years in various government and private bank accounts in the district to the account holders or their families. It has been revealed that a total of Rs 63.79 crore is deposited as unclaimed funds in 142,928 accounts in Buxar district. With the objective of settling this amount and ensuring people receive their financial rights, a special awareness and resolution camp was organized on Friday at the new auditorium of the District Collectorate under the "Your Capital, Your Right" campaign.

Crores of rupees lying dormant for years in various government and private bank accounts in the district are now being returned to the account holders or their families.

This camp was organized in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India and the Reserve Bank of India. The camp was inaugurated by Deputy Development Commissioner Niharika Chhavi by lighting the lamp. Present on the occasion were the Additional Collector of Buxar, District Public Relations Officer, Senior Deputy Collector (Banking), DDM NABARD, district coordinators of all banks in the district, managers of insurance companies, and a large number of officers and employees.

While starting the camp, Senior Manager of the Lead District Bank Office, Mahavir Prasad Gupta, highlighted the objective and importance of the campaign. He informed that a total of Rs. 63.79 crore is lying as unclaimed funds in 142,928 accounts across various banks in Buxar district. This includes Rs. 44.41 crore in 109,804 individual accounts and Rs. 19.37 crore in 33,124 institutional and government accounts. He also informed that unclaimed funds worth Rs. 1.79 crore in 119 accounts have been successfully settled and paid to the account holders or their legal heirs by November 30, 2025.

The Lead District Bank Manager said that the objective of this campaign is to settle all valid claims in a simple, transparent and timely manner, so that common citizens do not have to run around banks and insurance companies. The processes have been simplified and online methods are also being promoted.

Deputy Development Commissioner Niharika Chhavi, in her address, said that awareness is crucial for timely access to unclaimed deposits, insurance claims and other financial claims. This government campaign is a significant step towards returning people's hard-earned money. She said that often, due to lack of information, people are deprived of their own money, which this campaign will address.

It was explained at the program that there are millions of investors across the country who have invested in banks, insurance companies or mutual funds, but due to the death of the account holder, change of address or lack of information, the amount remains unclaimed. Later, this amount is deposited with the concerned departments. This scheme is being run to return this "lost capital" to the investors or their families.

Those present at the camp were given detailed information about the available government online platforms and application processes to facilitate access to claims related to unclaimed funds. Authorities appealed to people to check their old bank accounts, insurance

policies, and investment documents and submit claims in a timely manner so that their savings can be safely returned to them.
