PATNA---------------------------The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) conducted simultaneous raids at six locations of an executive engineer, seizing assets worth ₹4.87 crore (48.7 million rupees) in excess of income. The EOU raids have caused panic among corrupt individuals.
The Economic Offences Unit received intelligence that Vivekananda, an executive engineer with the Electricity Department in Samastipur, was involved in corruption and amassed wealth beyond his known sources of income. On the orders of Additional Director General of Police Nayyar Hasnain Khan, a team was formed to verify the information. The investigation team, led by the Superintendent of Police, found the allegations to be true. Following the findings, ADG Nayyar Hasnain Khan formed six teams led by six DSPs.
On Wednesday morning, the EOU team simultaneously raided six locations of Vivekananda, the executive engineer accused of corruption. These include villages Santhi, Kunti Kutir Lakshmipur, Rasidchak, Kashyap Green City in Danapur Kothwa, and the Electricity Office in Samastipur in Siwan district. During the search, the EOU recovered evidence of over-income of Rs 4,87,30,343 from the premises of accused Vivekananda. The figure is expected to rise further during further searches. The EOU is investigating who else is involved in this corruption racket. Interrogating several individuals may reveal more names, who will be targeted by the EOU in the future, and success is likely.
