Serious questions raised about the Dumraon Municipal Council's action: Is the encroachment removal campaign only for the weak?
'Silence' on the encroachment outside the Chief Assistant's house, the other party's platform was broken and entry was blocked. The victim raised questions about the impartiality of the police and administration.
Allegations of bias and influence in the Dumraon Municipal Council's ongoing encroachment removal campaign have sparked a new debate throughout the city. The matter is so serious that the Municipal Council's working style, the impartiality of its employees, and the role of the police administration are now in the dock. Allegations made by Umesh Kumar Gupta, a resident of Chhatiya Pokhara, indicate that the encroachment removal campaign is somehow limited to a select few, while influential people are being left out of the action.
According to Umesh Kumar Gupta, the Municipal Council's encroachment removal team arrived in front of his house on Monday evening and immediately demolished the platform built at the entrance, calling it an encroachment. This completely blocked the main access road to his house, causing immense inconvenience to his family. The victim alleges that this action was unilateral and arbitrary, as right next to his house, the Municipal Council's Chief Assistant, Durgesh Singh, has a large platform built over the drain, which is used for four-wheelers. Despite this, the team did not even touch it.
Local residents also revealed that on Tuesday morning, tenant shopkeepers had set up stalls and set up their shops at the same disputed site where action was taken on Monday. This clearly shows that the encroachment removal operation has become a "meaningless" exercise for influential individuals and a means of pressuring the public. Residents say that if the Municipal Council's attitude remains this way, the encroachment removal campaign will never be successful.
The victim claims that when he questioned the team about the discrimination and demanded equal action, the Municipal Council employees became enraged. According to him, five named Municipal Council employees assaulted, threatened, and attempted to pressure him. Based on this, he filed a written complaint at the police station against five employees, including the chief assistant. However, despite filing the complaint, neither the Municipal Council administration nor the police responded or took any action. This further strengthens the victim's allegations that the case is being suppressed due to the influence of a senior official.
City residents believe that when government employees themselves adopt a double standard in enforcing rules, taking action against the public cannot be justified. This controversy has also put senior Municipal Council officials in an uncomfortable position, as the entire city is now watching their next move. People are hoping for a fair investigation and that no matter who is guilty, they will be punished equally.
Victim Umesh Gupta stated clearly that if influential people continue to receive protection, the Municipal Council's credibility will be in doubt. He warned that he will continue his fight for justice until the culprits are brought to justice. If he doesn't receive justice from the police, he will approach the Sub-Divisional Public Grievance Redressal Office.
At present, the allegations of biased action against the Dumraon Municipal Council raise serious questions about its functioning.
Will the rights of ordinary citizens continue to be suppressed in the face of administrative pressure and influence? The city demands answers to this question.
When contacted regarding this serious issue, EO Rahuldhar Dubey stated that he had not yet received any information about the case or received any complaints. Information has been received through the media. The matter will be investigated. If found guilty, action will be taken against those involved.
