DELHI-------------------------Deep anger has spread among Delhi University faculty members. This anger has emerged following the October 16 incident at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar College, in which senior professor Dr. Sujit Kumar was allegedly attacked by a colleague, Deepika Jha. This incident has shaken not only the college campus but the entire teaching community of the university.

The teaching community of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar College has been staging a sit-in protest on the campus for the past several days.

College Teachers' Association President Prof. V.S. Negi and Secretary Prof. Dharmendra Tirthankar stated that the protest will continue until Deepika Jha is expelled. The teachers stated that this incident is not merely an attack on an individual, but an issue concerning the safety and dignity of the university's faculty.

Nearly 35 college teachers' associations have issued a joint statement strongly condemning this incident. All organizations have called this a "stain on the education world" and demanded immediate disciplinary and legal action against the culprits.

The teaching community of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar College has been staging a sit-in protest on the college campus for the past several days. The protesters include Professor V.S. Negi, President of the College Teachers' Association, and Professor Dharmendra Tirthankar, Secretary. They jointly demanded the expulsion of Deepika Jha and stated that the protest would continue until action is taken.

Senior faculty members of Delhi University—Prof. Rajiv Ray (Former President, DUTA), Professor Sunil Kumar Singh (Member, DU Executive Council), Professor T.N. Ojha (Member, DU Academic Council), Professor Sanjay Kumar (DUTA Joint Secretary), Professor Rajesh Jha, Professor Abha Dev Habib, Professor Ashwini Shankar, Professor V.S. Dixit, and Professor Rudranshu Kumar—issued a joint statement. All these teachers stated that this “criminal conduct” is against the dignity of the university and that strict legal action should be taken against the perpetrators.

Teacher leaders urged the administration to ensure a safe and respectful teaching and learning environment on the university campus. They warned that if the administration did not take any concrete action against the culprits, the agitation would be intensified.

Meanwhile, a delegation from the DUTA (Delhi University Teachers' Association) met with the college principal, Prof. Balram Pandey, and held a flag protest.

However, teachers allege that the university administration has not taken any concrete action so far. They have simply formed an inquiry committee and washed their hands off the matter, further fueling discontent among teachers.

The Delhi University teaching community is now united in demanding action regarding the incident. They say that if the perpetrators are not punished, it will seriously question the university's discipline and teaching culture.
