16-JULY-ENG 9

RAJIV NAYAN AGRAWAL

SASARAM--------------------------Continuous heavy rains in the district have increased waterlogging in the hilly areas, the effect of which is clearly visible on the water level of canals and rivers. The Sub-Divisional Officer (SDM) of Dehri has advised people to be cautious and has forbidden them from entering canals and rivers.

The SDM said that due to heavy rainfall in the hilly areas, the water level of the rivers and canals of the district has increased significantly and the strong current can prove fatal at any time. He said that people should not enter the rivers and canals for bathing, swimming or any other work. An appeal has been made to keep a special watch on children.

He has especially asked to avoid going to the Son Tila area as the risk of water level and strong current is the highest there.

"The safety of the people is our priority. The water level is likely to rise further. Please everyone be alert and follow the instructions of the administration,"** the SDM said.

The administration has appealed to the people to immediately inform the nearest administrative officer or disaster management helpline in case of any emergency.
