DISASTER VICTIMS HAVE THE FIRST RIGHT ON THE STATE’S TREASURY: NITISH KUMAR

PATNA------------------------Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today launched the payment of Gratuitous Relief (GR) amount to flood-affected families in the year 2025 at the rate of Rs 7000 per family directly in their bank account through DBT from Sankalp located at 1 Anne Marg. Today, Rs 456 crore 12 lakh was paid to 6 lakh 51 thousand 602 affected families of 12 districts at the rate of Rs 7000 per family.

During the program, the Chief Minister said that we had a review meeting with the flood-affected districts on August 13 and on August 14, we had seen the situation by conducting an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Patna, Vaishali, Begusarai and Munger districts. We had directed the officials to run relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected areas on a war footing. Along with this, instructions were also given to start payment of Gratuitous Relief (GR) amount to flood affected families by 20 August 2025.

The Chief Minister said that all of you have done a very good job in dealing with the floods but we would like to tell all of you that the time of floods is not over yet. Heavy rainfall and increase in the water level of rivers also occurs in the month of September. Sometimes floods also occur, so you all should be fully alert and keep an eye on the situation. In case of a flood like situation, help the affected people with full sensitivity. He said that I have believed from the beginning that disaster victims have the first right on the state treasury.
