PATNA---------------------------On the occasion of International Human Trafficking Prevention Day, a one-day workshop was organized by the Vulnerable Classes Division in the auditorium located at Sardar Patel Bhawan. Which was inaugurated by the Director General of Police, Bihar. On this occasion, Additional Director General of Police, Vulnerable Classes and Additional Director General of Police, Crime Investigation Department, Bihar, Patna were also present.

On this occasion, the Director General of Police, Bihar, in his address, appreciated the efforts made by the Vulnerable Classes to prevent crimes related to human trafficking and immoral prostitution and the action taken in such cases. He emphasized on all stakeholders working together on a platform for the elimination of human trafficking and immoral prostitution. The organizer of the program, Additional Director General of Police, Vulnerable Classes Division, told that from January to May of the year 2025, a total of 231 cases related to human trafficking and immoral prostitution were registered in the state of Bihar, in which 118 minor girls and 506 minor boys have been freed from exploitation and a total of 144 human traffickers including 17 women have been arrested. He told that two standard operating procedures (SOP) have also been issued by the Vulnerable Classes for the guidance of the district police in the case of human trafficking. He further told that human trafficking is an organized crime and is the second largest source of illegal income after drug trafficking in the world of crime.

During the workshop, the nodal police officers of all the districts, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Deputy Superintendent of Police (Special Crimes), in-charge of all the District Human Trafficking Prevention Unit and SHOs of Mahila Police Station of all the districts were made aware of the role of all the stakeholders related to human trafficking prevention and the aspects related to it by the experts of this subject. Also, problems related to transgenders and their rights were discussed. Information was also given about Transgender Act-2019 and SOP issued by Bihar Police Headquarters in this regard. During the workshop, Director General of Police, Bihar honored 1. Superintendent of Police, Saran 2. Superintendent of Police, Rohtas 3. Superintendent of Police, Railway Patna and 4. City Superintendent of Police (West), Patna by giving them certificates for their commendable work in cases related to human trafficking.

On this occasion, Director General of Police, Bihar also honored 03 survivors of human trafficking, out of which 01 is from Samastipur and 02 are from Gaya.

On the occasion of International Day against Human Trafficking, Bihar Police Headquarters has announced to run operation “Naya Savera” from 31.07.25 to 14.08.25 (eve of Independence Day) for the action of campaign to prevent human trafficking and liberate minor girls from sexual exploitation, in which an intensive contemporary campaign will be run for the liberation and rehabilitation of victims / victims of human trafficking, child labor, red light area and orchestra group. The two districts giving the best performance in this campaign will be rewarded at the Police Headquarters level.
