ARA------------------------------CPI(ML) today organized an important meeting of social media activists in Ara Kranti Park. The objective of the meeting was to expose the chaotic and unconstitutional process of Special Voter Revision (SIR), and to expose the anti-people policies of the BJP-JDU government that has been going on for the last 20 years. For this, the outline of an organized social media campaign was decided.

In the meeting, Central Committee member Santosh Sahar, District Incharge of Social Media Com. Chandan Kumar, State Committee member Qayamuddin Ansari, Ara City Secretary Com. Sudhir Singh, Ara Mufassil Secretary Vijay Ojha, Area Secretary Randhir Rana, City Committee member Roshan Kushwaha, Sandeep Kumar, apart from social media active comrades from various wards and panchayats participated. Major decisions taken in the meeting

An active social media team will be formed in Ara Legislative Assembly, which will coordinate online campaigns in Ara Assembly.

WhatsApp groups will be created in each Panchayat, in which at least 500 members will be added, so that public relations and public awareness can get a fast pace.

A special team of 50 youth workers will be formed, which will use tools like videos, posts, ground reports and quick responses to expose the irregularities of SIR on social media.

This entire team will work under an organizational structure, where links and accountability will be ensured from the Panchayat to the district level.

All workers will be given online training, so that they can intervene on social media by being technically proficient and politically aware.

Santosh Sahar, who attended the meeting, said that Special Voter Revision (SIR) is a dangerous example in the electoral history of India. It is not only unconstitutional, but is also a well-planned conspiracy to destroy the voting rights of crores of poor, Dalits, minorities, women and deprived sections. Earlier, such a process was not adopted in any state of the country.

He alleged that by spreading rumors of inclusion of names of Bangladeshi, Nepali, Myanmarese citizens, real Indian voters are being made suspects. If foreign citizens are in the voter list, then the responsibility lies with the government and the commission – not the general public. This is a politics of spreading fear.

The speakers further said that the Election Commission is repeatedly saying that it will be mandatory for the voter to show any one of the 11 documents. But the truth is that a large population of Bihar does not have these documents. The Supreme Court has clearly said that Aadhaar cannot be considered proof of citizenship, despite this the commission has not clarified the situation.

He said that giving the ERO the right to decide the citizenship of a voter – this is a gross insult to both the Constitution and democracy. This process is actually 'votebandi' – seizure of voter rights on the lines of demonetization.

It was also decided in the meeting that a statewide campaign against SIR will be run in an organized manner on social media. Along with this, issues like corruption, unemployment, inflation, poor condition of education and health sector, farmer crisis and women safety during 20 years of BJP-JDU rule will also be highlighted.

CPI (ML) has clarified that ideological and organizational struggle will be intensified on digital platforms to protect democratic rights. The party is committed to activate its workers at every level in this direction.
