BUXAR------------------------------A monthly prosecution review meeting was held in the Collectorate meeting hall on Friday under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Dr. Vidyanand Singh. The meeting reviewed the progress of speedy trials and general cases, and special emphasis was placed on the speedy disposal of pending cases.

According to information received at the meeting, a total of 12 cases were sentenced under speedy trials in October 2025. These included six heinous crimes, four under the POCSO Act, one under the Arms Act, and one under the NDPS Act. Convictions were awarded in five heinous crimes and 15 under the Arms Act in general cases.

Special Public Prosecutor (Production) Awadhesh Rai informed the meeting that the trial of the district's infamous Murar Police Station Case No. 10/2022 has been completed. He informed that seven speedy-trial cases involved accused absconded just before sentencing. The court has issued an NBW, and sentencing will be possible only after arrest.

The District Magistrate directed all prosecution officers, public prosecutors, and additional public prosecutors present at the meeting to ensure the execution of as many cases as possible each month so that the culprits receive severe punishment. He stated that it is essential to create an atmosphere of fear among criminals so that a strong image of law and order is established in society and the public feels safe.

The District Magistrate assured the district administration of all possible support to the prosecution and expressed his expectation that all officials will work diligently to secure convictions. He directed police officers and the Civil Surgeon to ensure the presence of investigators and other witnesses in court at all costs, thereby increasing the number of convictions in speedy-trial cases.

The meeting also directed that public prosecutors should hold review meetings at their level every month to expedite the execution of cases.

Additional Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarters, District Prosecution Officer, all Sub-Divisional Prosecution Officers, In-charge of Police Prosecution Branch, Representative of Civil Surgeon, Public Prosecutor, Government Advocate and Additional Public Prosecutor were present in the meeting.
