As per the instructions of the Bihar State Legal Services Authority, Patna, National Constitution Day was celebrated in a dignified atmosphere at the Civil Court, Buxar campus on Wednesday. The program began at 10:15 am, with Principal District and Sessions Judge Harshit Singh leading the mass recitation of the Preamble to the present judicial officers, Bar Association advocates, panel advocates, paralegal volunteers, court staff, and common citizens.
Addressing as the chief guest, Principal District and Sessions Judge Harshit Singh said that the Constitution of India is the supreme law of the country, which outlines the governance, the powers and duties of the government machinery, and protects the fundamental rights of citizens. He stated that the Constitution was passed on November 26, 1949, and came into effect on January 26, 1950. November 26 is celebrated as Constitution Day and January 26 is celebrated as Republic Day across the country.
On this occasion, Additional District Judge and In-charge Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Maheshwar Nath Pandey elaborated on the various features of the Constitution. He said that the rules made for the smooth functioning of any institution or nation are called its constitution. India has the world's largest written constitution, which currently consists of 25 parts, 12 schedules, and approximately 470 articles. At the time of its enactment, the Constitution consisted of 22 parts, 8 schedules, and 395 articles, which have been amended 106 times.
He explained that the original handwritten copy of the Indian Constitution consists of 251 pages, weighs approximately 3.75 kilograms, and was written in beautiful calligraphy by Prem Bihari Narayan Raizada. The original copy preserved in Parliament weighs approximately 13 kilograms.
The Constitution took a total of 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days to draft, and the Constituent Assembly, also known as the Drafting Committee, was formed on December 6, 1946. Its key members included Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, and representatives from various communities and states.
Chief Justice of the Family Court of the Civil Court, Buxar, Manoj Kumar I, District and Additional Sessions Judges Manish Shukla, Sudesh Kumar Srivastava, Amit Kumar Sharma, Manas Kumar Vatsal, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Maheshwar Nath Pandey, Judicial Magistrate Gaurav Kumar Singh, Chandan Kumar, and other judicial officers were present at the event.
Senior staff members Rajiv Kumar Srivastava, Sanjay Kumar, Kundendu Kumar Dubey, Santosh Kumar Dwivedi, Dhananjay Kumar, Neeraj, Amarendra Bharti, Deepak Gupta, Kahkansha Parveen, Ashish Ranjan, Kiran Kumari, Shailesh Ojha, Neeraj Kumar, Amar Nath Chaudhary, Ashok Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Deepesh Srivastava, Sumit Kumar, and many other employees and citizens were also present.
This National Constitution Day event further strengthened the awareness of the Constitution and respect for constitutional values among all participants.
