PATNA (RNI) The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has begun revealing its cards for the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections. By releasing its first list of four candidates for the Bhabua, Mohania, Ramgarh, and Kargahar assembly constituencies, the party has attempted to convey that this time it is not merely entering the electoral fray to make a formal presence, but rather to gain ground and divide votes.
A look at the announced list reveals that the BSP has adopted a two-pronged strategy in selecting its candidates—on one hand, it seeks to facilitate public relations by fielding popular faces, and on the other, it seeks to strengthen its organization by giving tickets to the heirs of old political families.
The BSP has nominated Vikas Singh, alias Lallu Patel, from the Bhabua seat. This is seen as a step towards balancing regional equations.
Bhojpuri singer Om Prakash Deewana has been given the ticket from the Mohania seat. This decision clearly demonstrates that the BSP is leveraging the popularity of folk artists to connect directly with the public.
Satish Yadav, also known as Pintu Yadav, has been fielded from Ramgarh, the son of former MLA Ambika Yadav. Here, the party has adopted a strategy of strengthening its hold on Yadav voters while simultaneously leveraging their political legacy.
By fielding Uday Pratap Singh, son of former minister Ramdhani Singh, from the Kargahar seat, the BSP has sought to convey that relying on big names and prior experience is part of its electoral plan.
Political experts believe that this move by the BSP is not merely a mere announcement of four seats. In fact, it highlights the party's vision of balancing social balance, caste equations, and the power of popular faces. Although the BSP has been a marginal party in Bihar politics, this selection of candidates clearly demonstrates its desire to move beyond alliance dynamics and vote-cutting roles to make a real impact in 2025.
Experts believe that if the BSP continues to field popular and influential candidates, it could turn contests into triangular contests in several seats. This move could prove to be a new challenge for both the ruling party and the opposition.
