BJP SUFFERS SETBACK AHEAD OF FIRST PHASSE OF VOTING

PATNA----------------------The BJP has suffered a major setback in the first phase of voting in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Lallan Kumar, a former BJP MLA from Bhagalpur's Pirpainti (reserved) seat, has switched sides and joined Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD.

On Wednesday, Lallan Kumar accepted the party membership in the presence of the Grand Alliance's CM candidate, Tejashwi Yadav. Tejashwi Yadav also initiated his party membership. Afterward, Lallan Kumar also met former Chief Minister Rabri Devi.

Upon joining the RJD, Lallan Kumar shared a post on social media, writing, "May the Rashtriya Janata Dal's caravan continue to grow. From today, I too have joined. We have all resolved to build a Tejashwi-dominated Bihar. Tejashwi is the present, Tejashwi is the future! Jai Bhim!"

After leaving the BJP, Lalan Kumar wrote, "My political journey with the BJP has now ended. Whatever I did for the party, following the instructions of senior leaders, I did it with gratitude, but now it seems the BJP no longer needs vocal Dalit leadership."

It is noteworthy that Lalan Kumar, upset over being denied a ticket for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, has expressed his trust in the RJD. This time, the BJP has fielded Murari Paswan as its candidate for the Pirpainti seat. Displeased with this decision by the BJP high command, Lalan Kumar has finally announced his intention to begin a new political innings.
