RAJIV NAYAN AGRAWAL

ARA----------------------------Gramin Bank employees will be on a one-day nationwide strike on 09 July 2025. This strike is against the policies of the Central Government, which the employees are considering as anti-people and anti-labor. This strike is being held on the call of All India Gramin Bank Officers Federation (AIGBOA) and All India Gramin Bank Employees Federation (AIGBEA). In support of this in Bihar, Bihar Gramin Bank Officers Federation and Bihar Gramin Bank Employees Federation will also participate in the strike.

In this regard, Comrade Kundan Kumar Rai, General Secretary of Bihar Gramin Bank Employees Federation and National Assistant Secretary of All India Gramin Bank Employees Association, said that the Central Government wants to privatize the rural banks. For this, preparations are being made to bring IPO (Initial Public Offering), which is directly against the basic spirit of the Gramin Bank.

He told that the Gramin Bank was established in the year 1975 on the principle of "Low-Cost Banking". Its purpose was to provide banking facilities easily even in villages and remote areas. But now the government wants to make these banks a profit-making institution, so that their privatization can be easy. This will have a direct impact on the poor of the village, farmers, small traders and the general public.

Comrade Kundan Kumar Rai said that if the bank is privatized, then the common citizens will have to pay more fees on various services. Loans will become expensive, and banking services may be limited. This will harm the poor and middle class families.

He demanded the government to immediately withdraw the IPO plan. Apart from this, he also made demands like making adequate recruitment in rural banks, improving technology and infrastructure, providing loans to the general public at low interest rates, ensuring reinstatement of Class IV employees and regularizing daily wage workers.

He also said that the five-day banking system should be implemented immediately so that bank employees can also get mental and physical relief.

In support of all these demands, on July 09, the rural bank employees across the country including Bihar will go on strike together and will protest the policies of the government in a democratic way. This strike is not just a fight for the employees, but also for the rights and interests of the general public.

Comrade Kundan Rai appealed to the rural people and customers to understand this movement and cooperate with the bank employees, so that the basic spirit and purpose of the rural bank can be saved.
