PATNA-------------------------"The Bihar Board receiving three ISO certificates has ensured quality, transparency, and security in its functioning. It is the first board in the country to receive three certificates simultaneously."
The Bihar School Examination Board (Bihar Board) has achieved a major milestone by setting a new standard of quality, transparency, and technical efficiency in its functioning. The board has been awarded three important ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certificates simultaneously. These certificates are for Quality Management System, Information Security Management System, and Records Management System. With this, the Bihar Board has become the first examination board in the country to receive ISO certification in all three categories simultaneously.
This historic achievement was announced by Bihar Board Chairman Anand Kishore at a press conference on Saturday. He said that continuous improvements and innovations have been made over the past several years to align the board's functioning with international standards, and the results are now evident. Anand Kishore said that receiving the ISO certificates is not just an honor, but a seal of approval on the board's credibility and transparency.
The three categories in which the Bihar Board has received ISO certificates are: Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015). Under this, the process of granting recognition to matriculation and intermediate level schools has been made more transparent, reliable, and time-bound. Unnecessary delays in results have been eliminated, and standardized procedures are ensured in the conduct of examinations.
The second category is Information Security Management System (ISO/IEC 27001:2022). In this area, the Bihar Board has made the examination system secure and reliable through the extensive use of IT and software. The security of students' data, online result declaration, and systems like OFS (Online Facilitation for Students) for enrollment in class 11 have been successfully implemented. This is why the Bihar Board has consistently been successful in releasing the matriculation and intermediate results first in the country. According to Chairman Anand Kishore, the Bihar Board has maintained the record of declaring results first for seven consecutive years, from 2019 to 2025. The third and crucial category is the record management system (ISO 15489-1:2016). Under this system, the Bihar Board has digitized and secured all important academic records from 1983 to 2025. This has not only made it easier to retrieve old documents but has also eliminated the possibility of tampering with records.
Anand Kishore said that receiving the ISO certification will further strengthen the Bihar Board's reputation across the country. It will increase the confidence of students and parents that the entire process of admission, examination, and results will be conducted with quality and transparency. It will also boost employee morale and enable them to work with greater efficiency.
It is noteworthy that the Bihar Board had previously received the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration in 2022. This achievement demonstrates that the board is playing a leading role not only in the field of education but also in administrative reforms. With the ISO certification, the expectation is further reinforced that the Bihar Board will maintain high standards of quality, transparency, and security in the coming years and set an example for other boards.
