ARA--------------------------Bhojpur's son Kapildev Singh, posted at the Agra border outpost in Malda district, West Bengal, was martyred while fighting smugglers. On Monday, his body arrived at his ancestral village, Masad village, under the Gajrajganj OP. A huge crowd gathered to pay their last respects. As the ambulance entered the village, slogans like "Kapildev Singh Amar Rahe" and "As long as the sun and moon exist, Kapildev Singh, your name will remain" echoed from all sides.

Women, elderly, and young people all had moist eyes, but their chests were filled with pride. As soon as the body arrived home, there was an outcry. The wife and daughter wept profusely, while the daughter kept repeating, "Now, father, who will I blame?" A crowd of public representatives, police, and BSF personnel gathered to pay their last respects to the martyr. Many people including Sandesh Vidhansabha MLA Kiran Devi's son Deepu Ranawat, MLC Radha Charan Sah, Mukhiya Priya Singh, representative Rakesh Singh reached there and paid tribute by offering flowers on the martyr's body wrapped in the tricolor and consoled the family members.

Let us tell you that the martyred soldier was 58-year-old Kapildev Singh, son of Shiv Pujan Singh, resident of Masad village of Udwantnagar block. He was recruited in BSF on 31 October 1984. He joined as a constable in Panji Pada on 8 January 1985. He is married to Sunita Devi. They have a daughter Kanchan Singh and a son Hrithik Roshan. The son is pursuing graduation. Kapildev Singh had joined 88 Battalion Malda two years ago. He was promoted to the post of Inspector six months ago. Currently he was posted as Inspector in Narayanpur Camp of Malda district of West Bengal.

Meanwhile, the martyred soldier's son-in-law, Luv Kumar Singh, said that on Friday, as usual, he was on duty as a company commander at the Agra border outpost, setting up an ambush. Meanwhile, a smuggler was attempting to cross the border. Kapildev Singh urged the smuggler to retreat, but the smuggler refused to listen and continued crossing. Kapildev Singh then fired a round. He then ran to catch the smuggler. After running a short distance, he collapsed and died on the way to the hospital. The son-in-law said that the process of bringing the body back to Bihar was quite difficult. He was stuck in a traffic jam in Patna for four hours, while the body remained stuck in Purnia for more than four hours. BSF personnel themselves cleared the traffic jam.
