ARA-------------------------------The Barhara Assembly seat in Bihar's Bhojpur district is considered politically significant. The electoral equation here has always been interesting. Looking at the results of both the 2015 and 2020 elections, it's clear that the contest was primarily between the RJD and the BJP.

In 2015, RJD candidate Saroj Yadav won the Barhara seat. He secured 65,001 votes, defeating BJP's Asha Devi by approximately 13,308 votes. Raghavendra Pratap Singh of the Samajwadi Party came in third, with approximately 13,638 votes.

Winner: Saroj Yadav (RJD)

Main Rival: Asha Devi (BJP)

Winning Margin: 13,308 votes.

The equation on this seat changed in 2020. BJP's Raghavendra Pratap Singh performed resoundingly, securing 76,182 votes and defeating RJD's Saroj Yadav. Saroj Yadav received 71,209 votes. This time, the contest was tight, with a margin of victory of just 4,973 votes.

Winner: Raghavendra Pratap Singh (BJP)

Main Rival: Saroj Yadav (RJD)

Winning Margin: 4,973 votes.

While RJD won by a landslide in 2015, the BJP won the seat in a close contest in 2020. The seat revolved around two prominent figures in both elections: Saroj Yadav and Raghavendra Pratap Singh.

This trend suggests that the people of Barhara are willing to experiment with their representatives by frequently changing their positions.
