ANTI-ENCROACHMENT DRIVE SECOND CONSECUTIVE DAY AT PIRO

7-DEC-ENG 4

RAJIV NAYAN AGRAWAL

ARA----------------------------On Saturday, for the second consecutive day, the administration conducted an anti-encroachment drive in the Piro municipal area. Led by SDO Krishna Kumar Upadhyay and Circle Officer Lakhendra Kumar, along with other officials, the drive on Saturday saw the removal of encroachments at several locations on Sasaram Road, the new bus stand, and Bihiya Road. The administration's action created a tense atmosphere throughout the city on Saturday. During the anti-encroachment drive on Sasaram Road, shacks, sheds, and even permanent structures built along the roadside were demolished. The balcony of Dr. Manoranjan Gupta's permanent house was also broken down. Similarly, permanent houses belonging to the Mahadalit community along the roadside were also demolished. On Bihiya Road, the old public toilet near Lohia Chowk and encroachments in front of government shops were also removed. According to the SDO, the anti-encroachment drive will continue. Meanwhile, local residents expressed their anger at the administration's actions, alleging that the encroachment removal was being carried out arbitrarily. They claimed that permanent houses along the roadsides were being demolished without proper measurement, marking, or prior notice. This has created an atmosphere of fear among the people living along the roads. Dr. Manoranjan Gupta, a resident of Sasaram Road, said that the balcony of his permanent house was demolished on Saturday, even though no measurements were taken beforehand, nor was he given any notice to remove the encroachment. The demolition of permanent structures without notice or measurement has fueled anger among the local population towards the administration. Alleging arbitrary actions during the administration's anti-encroachment drive, former BJP District General Secretary Madan Snehi, BJP leader Brajesh Singh, and several other political and social activists have demanded that the encroachment removal process be conducted in a transparent manner. The people expressed strong resentment over the action of damaging or demolishing permanent houses and shops without proper measurement and prior notice, stating that this type of action appears to be a conspiracy to defame the government.
