PATNA------------------------The Bihar Cabinet has approved the construction of a new bridge on the Patna main canal at a cost of 100 crores. This bridge, which will be built by February 2027, will benefit about 33 lakh people of Arwal, Aurangabad, Bhojpur, Rohtas and Patna districts.
Taking a big decision, the Nitish Cabinet will construct a bridge on the Patna main canal at a cost of 100 crores. It has been targeted to be completed by February 2027. The government says that about 33 lakh people will get great benefit from the construction of the bridge.
The Nitish Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Water Resources Department. The proposal states that there is a bridge at 62.60 km of Patna main canal, through which National State Highway 139 passes. It connects Patna city with important districts of South Bihar such as Arwal, Aurangabad, Bhojpur and Rohtas. At present, due to urbanization and commercial development of Arwal city, there has been a huge increase in the movement of people from Arwal and its surrounding areas. Due to which the problem of jam arises on National State Highway 139 which connects Arwal and Patna.
After the implementation of the scheme, about 8.70 lakh people in Kaler and Arwal area of Arwal district, about 5.80 lakh people in Goh, Haspura and Daudnagar area of Aurangabad district, about 10.00 lakh people in Sahar, Agiaon, Tarari, Piro and Sandesh area of Bhojpura district, 3.70 lakh people in Nasriganj and Karakat area of Rohtas district and about 4.60 lakh people in Paliganj and Dulhin Bazar area of Patna district, a total of about 32.86 lakh people will get relief from the problem of traffic and jam. Apart from this, tourists traveling from other districts will also get indirect benefits.
Also, due to the problem of jam, the time of the passengers traveling through this route will be saved considerably. Also, with the implementation of the scheme, the left dam-cum-Son safety embankment of Patna Canal will be strengthened. The estimated amount of the scheme is Rs 10000.00 lakh (one hundred crore rupees). It is targeted to be completed by February, 2027.
