BUXAR---------------------------The Buxar Police have achieved a major breakthrough as part of their ongoing campaign against crime and illegal weaponry. Acting on a confidential tip-off, the police conducted a raid in the jurisdiction of the Nawanagar Police Station... The police have arrested two accused individuals and recovered a country-made pistol (*desi katta*) from Kesath Purana Bazar. The operation was carried out by a special team constituted under the leadership of Dumraon SDPO Polast Kumar.

During a press conference held on Saturday, SDPO Polast Kumar stated that on Friday night, information was received indicating that some youths were present in Kesath Purana Bazar, possessing illegal weapons, and were preparing to execute a major criminal act. Upon receiving this intelligence, a special team was immediately formed, and a raid was conducted.

The police team cordoned off the market area near the brick kiln in Kesath Purana Bazar and initiated the operation. Upon spotting the police, the two youths present at the scene attempted to flee; however, due to the alertness of the armed forces, both were apprehended on the spot. During a search, a country-made pistol was recovered from one of the youths. As no valid documentation regarding the weapon could be produced, both individuals were arrested.

The arrested accused have been identified as Rakesh Kumar and Mahesh Kumar, both residents of Kesath. The police have registered a case against both individuals—Nawanagar Police Station Case No. 58/26—and have initiated further legal proceedings.

During the investigation, the police also discovered that the arrested individual, Rakesh Kumar, has a criminal history. Cases have previously been registered against him in various matters, including Nawanagar Police Station Case No. 132/23. Furthermore, information was received indicating that a case has also been registered against him under the Arms Act at the Koransarai Police Station. The police suspect that the accused has long-standing ties to illegal activities. The SDPO affirmed that the campaign against criminals and individuals possessing illegal weapons in the district will continue unabated. Strict action will be taken against such elements to ensure the maintenance of law and order within the district.

The raiding team comprised Dumraon SDPO Polast Kumar, Police Officer Arvind Kumar, Nawanagar Station House Officer (SHO) Prafulla Kumar, and personnel from the armed forces. Following this police operation, a sense of panic has spread among those possessing illegal weapons in the region.
