PATNA--------------------------Following the cabinet expansion, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has allocated ministries and departments among all the ministers of the Bihar government. CM Samrat Choudhary has retained the Home Department under his own charge. Nishant Kumar, the son of former CM Nitish Kumar, has been assigned the Health Ministry upon becoming a minister for the first time. The portfolio of Vijay Kumar Sinha, who served as Deputy CM in the previous government, has been changed; Vijay Sinha has now been appointed as the Minister of Agriculture. In the previous cabinet, he held the responsibility for the Department of Revenue and Land Reforms. Former BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal will now serve as the Minister of Revenue and Land Reforms—a department he has previously managed.
In the Samrat administration, the first Deputy CM from the JD(U) quota, Vijay Kumar Choudhary, will retain responsibility for the Departments of Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs. The second Deputy CM, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, will continue to serve as the Minister of Finance and Commercial Taxes, although the Energy Department has been reassigned from him. Bullo Mandal, a first-time minister, has been appointed as the new Minister of Energy.
The portfolio of Sunil Kumar, a minister from the JD(U) quota, has been changed. The Education Department has been transferred to the BJP. Mithilesh Tiwari has been appointed as Bihar's new Minister of Education. In exchange, the JD(U) has received the Health Department, the charge of which has been entrusted to Nishant.
The portfolio of senior JD(U) minister Ashok Choudhary has also been changed. While he held the Department of Rural Works in the previous Nitish cabinet, he has now been appointed as the Minister of Food and Consumer Protection in the Samrat administration.
